Partner Information

SpArc Foundation’s relationship with Worawa Aboriginal College in Healesville began when Cathie visited Lockhart River with Worawa Principal, Aunty Lois Peeler, in 2012. It was through this community visit that the SpArc Foundation began a partnership with the Hawthorn Football Club’s Indigenous Program and built a strong relationship with the College.

In 2015, this relationship also helped establish an Indigenous Football team, the Eastern Eaglehawks, in the Eastern Region of Victoria under the guidance of Aunty Lois. Support for the team via the Hawthorn Indigenous Program included mentoring, a cultural camp, and assistance with goal setting and career pathways.

Worawa’s Lady Eaglehawks was established in association with the Hawthorn Football Club Next Generation Academy, and in 2018 conducted a six-week AFL Nutrition, Health and Fitness Program with VFLW/AFLW player Sarah Perkins.

In 2018, SpArc Foundation partnered with Worawa, the HFC and the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to publish the book Deadly Sisters of Worawa, which was released on Indigenous Literacy Day.
